The time has come for a new phone, and being a keen social networker and smartphone lover I’m in a predicament. Do I stay loyal to Blackberry and get the new Curve 8900 or move to Apple and get the iPhone? Continue reading ‘iPhone 3GS Vs Blackberry 8900′

I haven’t posted a blog for far too long. I know I shouldn’t complain, but I’ve just been far too busy to do anything about it. Over Easter though I’ve taken a few days out and spent a long weekend in Cornwall with my other half and my family. We had a really great time camping, the weather was good to us, and I realised how much I actually needed a holiday. For one reason or another I haven’t taken any real time off for about two and a half years.
I arrived back home inspired by my break in the very picturesque Cornwall and in particular with the enjoyment of the camping experience itself. As a person who likes to improve themselves I thought I’d try something I haven’t done in a while. Illustration! Continue reading ‘A Holiday Inspired Illustration’
I thought it had been a while since I’d posted anything, and I haven’t really had time to finish what I wanted to post. So I’m copping out and just posting some work I’ve just finished. I’ve been working on a logo design and business card for a brand new state of the art recording studio. Eye Studios is a multi-discipline recording studio, producing anything from rock and punk to corporate soundtracks and idents. Continue reading ‘Eye Studios - Identity and Business Card Design’
Yeah, so I finally got round to finishing my business card. I went for an all out in-your-face kind of design in the hope that I’ll stick in peoples minds as “the guy with the big bright stripy business card”. The image on the front is a slightly edited stock image of some pencils that I got from stockxpert. The symbol on the front is taken from my logo, meaning infinity - or infinite possibilities and ideas. Continue reading ‘BIG Media Design - Business Cards’
It’s been a couple of weeks here at BMD since I’ve been able to make a post, due to the fact that I haven’t been able to find a spare minute. I’ve had a fair bit of work on (which is nice, considering the economic problems we’re all experiencing) and I’ve been busy compiling a pitch for a big project I may have coming up (more on that if I get the job!).
Anyway, I just thought I’d show you what I’ve been working on lately, just a couple of the smaller jobs, business cards to be precise, but nice results all the same. Continue reading ‘Medicine & Money - BMD Business Card Designs’
Speaking to another designer friend of mine the other day about business card design, I remembered a flickr photostream that I stumbled across whilst messing around on Google. The gallery is brimming with some of the most amazing, clever, clean, sophisticated, and downright crazy business card designs you’ll ever lay eyes upon. If you fancy stepping away from the usual double/single sided, vertical/horizontal designs that a lot of businesses use then this is the place to go to get some ideas.
Here are some of my favourites, not all of them are designs I would choose, but the creative ideas used on some of them are quite remarkable! Continue reading ‘Cool Business Cards - More design inspiration!’
Over the weekend, I was talking with a friend of mine who is a computer technician and he told me about a bit of software called LogMeIn. It’s a great little program for those of us who are on the move. It allows you to login to your computer at home from anywhere in the world, provided your home computer is turned on and connected to the internet, and the local computer you are using is also connected to the net. Continue reading ‘Free Remote Access Software!’
As a couple of my clients are aware, my mac decided to eat it’s own hard drive on Friday of last week – unfortunately this means I don’t have a machine to work on for a week!
Like a fool I’ve never been that great at backing up my files, especially since I started using a mac, since they are bulletproof and never go wrong, ever! Haha Oh dear. Continue reading ‘A lesson in backing up your hard drive… the hard way!’
As all you designers will be aware, graphic design books professing to conjure inspiration for those creatively challenging days are abundant, but most cost a small fortune, and with the web expanding faster than the universe there are a whole host of resources available for us to use. This not only benefits the design world, but also the clients that we work for – they too can now browse through thousands of designs to be found on gallery sites all over the web. Continue reading ‘Design Inspiration – Where to go when creative block sets in’
