As all you designers will be aware, graphic design books professing to conjure inspiration for those creatively challenging days are abundant, but most cost a small fortune, and with the web expanding faster than the universe there are a whole host of resources available for us to use. This not only benefits the design world, but also the clients that we work for – they too can now browse through thousands of designs to be found on gallery sites all over the web.
There are two really good sites that are normally my first stop for inspiration, whether hunting for a nice colour combination, an appropriate typeface, or just a bit of eye candy to get the creative juices flowing.
This is a great resource, no two ways about it. You can browse through thousands of logos, brand and corporate identities. You can get quite into the site if you want to, registering and submitting your own designs, commenting on others, and posting on the site forum if you wish. I find that a quick flick through the gallery pages is all I need to get creative on my own projects.
Another great site, seemingly brought to life by the same people as logopond – the site has the same layout and feel. This time though the gallery is stocked full of great illustrations by designers and artists from all over the world. A multitude of styles, concepts, and subjects are explored. Great if you’re feeling a bit creatively tired.
Over the coming months I plan to explore the web and bring you some useful links to these kinds of sites. There are a lot more that I visit on a regular basis, some that won’t require much yakking from me, and some that I could talk about for quite some time.
Stay tuned for more!
Enjoy!

I don’t get enough time to flick around and look at inspirational things, it’s quite annoying actually as I think it would really improve my design work if I could find more time to do this.
I think that looking at fresh and interesting visuals can really impact on a designer.
Ho hum, my littlest child goes to pre-school for the first time from next week, giving me lots and lots more time to concentrate without distractions, and so I’ll hopefully have more time to do things like this from now onwards.
I try to go for prevention rather than cure now, so if I get a spare five minutes at the end of a break I go online and hunt through a few sites, just generally soaking it all in, that way whatever you see has pre-inspired you for the next job - rather than having to do it during paid hours. If you find any good sites make sure you drop by an leave a link
Hey!. Not totally agree with you, but you just gave me an idea for a new eBook regarding \”Inspiration – Where to go when creative block sets in at Graphic Design Blog - Matthew Martin, BIG Media Design\”. It is related to eye candy graphics. Thanks.
